Festival Fun

Are you a Festival-goer?  We normally aren't, other than the occasional Renaissance Festival or Fall Festival at church.  However, this past Saturday we had planned to do SOMETHING with the three of us together.  It was a gorgeous east coast day.  We chose to go to the National Apple Harvest Festival near Gettysburg,  PA.  It was a fun day for the most part.

But I am wondering why we go to festivals?  First of all, we paid $9 per person to get in - to get in to do exactly what?

To give us the privilege to stand by apple photo spots:

Or to look at crafts, and spend money on them:

Or to buy a metal mug for $12 that gives you unlimited soda - all day long.  Of course, it's only located in one spot, so getting there is a challenge to refill.  It was tasty though.

Or, to have a photo taken that reminds you of the photos taken 40 years ago of your own mother, photos which you used to laugh at because she always had her purse down to her side, and always had her big sunglasses, and almost always, a button-down blouse.

Scary......., oh so scary...........

So, we paid that $27 and we walked around in the hot sun all day, ate fried food, drank soda, saw a lot of crafts and heard a little BlueGrass, maneuvered crowds, had some apple crisp, bought a craft kit, and hung out together.

Shoulda gone to the CornFusion Corn Maze.  Maybe next year.....

A Surprise Box Part II

Some of you will remember this post about a surprise box.  Oh my goodness - I got ANOTHER ONE today!  Out of the blue.   Into greens, reds, yellows, blacks, oranges, glitters, sparkles and embellishments.   I was so shocked and thrilled.

Our friend, Kent, is still the king at GCD Studios. Apprently he still remembers little old me.  What fun this will be!

Les is in LOVE with this line.  A Perfect Match.

Check out GCD Studios and their blog with lots of ideas about how to use all of their products.
Guess I better get some scrapbookin' done!!

Two Things

ONE thing:  I already posted this on my other blog, but I am also adding it here because not everyone HERE reads that one THERE.

I have many friends who wonder what they can do in their busy busy lives to support things that are good and true for their families.  Here is a possible way.  Check it out.  Join.  Stay connected.

I repeat AGAIN that these are times when it doesn't matter who you voted for in the last Presidential election.  What matters now is the future and your children and mine, and our grandchildren.  Maybe you don't think anything wrong is going on.  Maybe you never watch the news.  Maybe you like socialism.  Maybe you really aren't sure right now.  The point is that you love your family and want what is best for them.  So, don't get caught up in who says what about whom - just unite with others who want this to be a wonderful and free country again.  Period.

Here is the link:

SECOND thing:

I bought a Blackberry recently.  I KNOW!  Shocking.  I never thought I would be using one.   NEVER.  I am starting to like it.  I like it even more now since I found a cool site and downloaded the Blue Daisy App.  Love it.  So fun and girly-ish.  AND, it matches my blue SKIN - I know, I am so hip and happenin'.  I thought the font was quite small ( you know, my 50 year old hip and happenin' eyes and all....)  so I emailed the business owner to see if maybe I just didn't know how to make it bigger.  Well, SHE fixed the problem over night - for free.  I told her I would spread the word about her website, so I am!

Check her out here.  Love her.

I Submit That This is Truly Funny

On Saturday night, Hubby and I went to see the hysterical comedian, Brian Regan, in Baltimore at the Meyerhoff. We went with Diane and Ken - FAB companions for such an event. If you have never heard Brian's comedy, then you must check out his website and YouTube videos to get a taste for his hilarity.

I have never been to a comedy show like this. Sitting on about the sixth row, and five minutes into it, my mouth and cheeks hurt from cracking up every ten seconds.

Despite the laughing hyena lady (SERIOUSLY, this woman has issues - NON-stop guffaws, hooting, howling, cackling, and just exTREMEly loud belly laughs) who sat right behind Diane and me, and getting drinks spilled on our pants and shoes thanks to the two drunk girlie boys in front of us who got up THREE times to bring in two cups EACH of more adult beverages to consume, (MIND you, Diane and I are all about shoes for these types of events.... we were not happy), we had a wonderful evening enjoying CLEAN, satisfying, family comedy . Loved it loved it loved it.

If I were you, I would check out his tour dates at a city near you (he is in and out of Utah all the time - for all you Utah people). He will be in Lancaster, Pa, in June. Hmm....

Diane - perhaps we need to stalk him there - or is that when you will already BE in Hershey??? Dang - You are So smart!!

Get your Staples

I have LOVED stationery products since I was a little girl. I remember my dad coming home with crisp legal-sized yellow ruled pads of paper, cool drafting pencils, and I of course needed to use it all. OR maybe it started when I was 14 and my sister in law, Darlene, and I "invented" scrapbooking (seriously - another time I will post about that - had we done something about it, she'd be a bazillionaire). I crave scrapbook papers and I have a million pieces, and sadly, don't use them often enough.

Today I went in to my local Staples and it is apparent that they have finally noticed that WOMEN do a lot of purchasing at that store. I saw beautiful patterned file folders, brightly colored magnets and clips, and a huge amount of personal stationery papers. I was sooo happy!! I couldn't find much of these online, so you may have to get off the computer and go into the store to be delighted with the new papers and products. What did I buy? Nothing much - but I KNOW where to find it when I NEED it!!

OH, and I am totally going to make one of these. I ordered the calendars today! I ordered 3 - who wants to come over and make one with me? (Look on the side bar of Stacy's blog - I am still famous and have one of my posts still listed there.... woo hoo...).

Aida's Best Friend

[The following are a few posts about some of my nieces....]

My youngest niece, Bailee, is in BYU's Young Ambassadors. I haven't told her that Richard and I have affectionately referred to that group as The Young Embezzlers for years. Bwa hahaha. Ok, now she will know. She is very talented, and was also cast in the musical, "Aida" at the Hale Theater in Orem. While in Utah last week, we were fortunate to see her perform. She was awesome!!! The show was very creatively directed. If you are familiar with High School Musical (love it or hate it), or if you know who Christian is from last season's Project Runway, you will really enjoy the twists and turns. Thanks for making time for us, Bay!!

Joe's!

A few weeks ago, Richard and I watched the Food Network.... I know, it must have been a slow night. BUT, they showed a diner in Gilbert, Arizona called Joe's Farm Grill.. We decided we wanted to go there when we visited! My niece, sweet Genevie, took us there. DEEE-lish! If you haven't gone there, you must. And....be sure to use the restroom while there to see a little surprise decorating.
