Blackbeard is my Nephew

This is my nephew:

Ok, so he is married to my niece, Linsey, but I count him as my nephew. Linsey and Tyler Maxson star in this wonderful original musical. We saw it last summer when it was in its "workshop" stage, as you can see in these photos:

If you happen to be in AZ in September, go and see the show. These two are of course phenomenal, but the rest of the cast is amazing as well. We listened to the CD all last summer and still enjoy it today. Check out Blackbeard the Musical - go to Sights and Sounds and you can hear their great voices! Don't miss Tyler on #1 and Linsey singing the #7 selection. FABulous!

Help us, Brother Beck!

I think there are three categories of people when it comes to Talk Radio. You either LOVE it, HATE it, or IGNORE it. I generally love it. While I often have to turn it off because it gets a little too nasty or over-the-top, I always go back for more. Regardless of the stance that some hosts take, I have learned countless things about the world, politics and people.

My new favorite is Brother Beck. I never liked Glenn Beck's tv show until fairly recently. When I discovered where his radio show is on my XM radio, I began listening little by little. He is now my very favorite. I would say he is not as blatant nor "right wing" in his presentation than many others. I am pretty "right wing" myself, but I like his approach the best. His show is full of comedy, skits, bizzare comparisons and analogies that make sense. He and his staff are also incredibly funny! I drive along the beltway laughing out loud, all alone in my car! It's like listening to a clean version of a political Saturday Night Live, only much more thought-provoking and educational, too! For example. I knew nothing about Russia's issues with the country of Georgia and the energy problems that this may cause the entire world until I listened to his show last week. Do YOU know about that? Hm.... maybe it is time for a visit with Brother Beck.

Who Has a 20-Year Old??

I am not longer the mother of a teenage son - Elder T.'s 20th birthday was today! So, instead of making him a cheesecake, or a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake, or a Batman cake, or a Spiderman cake, or a Pokemon cake, or a Phoenix Suns cake, or......(Well, those are the main ones I remember - and they were gorgeous if I do say so myself) whatever, I mailed him a cake mix with canned frosting (ew - yes, I am a frosting snob) so he could make his own cake today. I think I now have 20 years of worry-wrinkles on my face to prove it all - and grateful for everyone of them.

I hope the next 20 years are the best yet for him, and for me.
